Koc ----------------------- The fourth annual PACIFIC NORTHWEST NUMBER THEORY CONFERENCE (PNWNTC IV) to be held APRIL 15th, 2000 at Oregon State University in Corvallis. Cohen, "Distribution of special points on subvarieties of Shimura varieties and applications" 11:00 AM Peter Borwein, "Small Norm Problems of Erd\H{0}s--Littlewood Type" 2:00 PM Edlyn Teske, "Square-root algorithms for the discrete logarithm and related problems" 3:30 PM Neal Koblitz, "Recent Attacks on Elliptic Curve Cryptography" 6:30 PM Dinner at Big River Restaurant. All talks will be held in Bexell Hall, Room 207. There will be NO registration fee. Directions from I-5: Take I-5 (from the north or south) until you reach the Highway 34 exit which reads "Corvallis / Oregon State University" (Exit number 228). Go west on Highway 34 for about 10 miles. This road continues directly into Corvallis. Cross the Willamette River Bridge into town and you will be on Harrison Blvd. Follow Harrison Blvd (in the left lane) until the traffic light at 25th St. Take a LEFT onto 25th. Follow this a block or so and CROSS Monroe Ave, enter and park in the Parking Lot. (This parking lot requires no permit on the weekend.) The closest campus road parallel to Monroe Ave is Campus Way. As you face Campus Way, the closest building on your LEFT is BEXELL HALL. The Motel Orleans in Corvallis (541-758-9125; 800-626-1900) has set aside a few rooms at rates of $48 +tax for both single and double rooms.
