Grosse To: islmail@security.ece.orst.edu Subject: ISL shutdown on November 21, 1999 [ The following text is in the "iso-8859-1" character set. ] [ Your display is set for the "US-ASCII" character set. ] [ Some characters may be displayed incorrectly. ] On November 21st the ISL will be shutdown after 4:30pm for a firewall installation, computer upgrades, and other needed changes. The shutdown will require the entire evening. In response from each person in the lab I need the following: 1) Everyone should submit a list of "personal" programs that they use on their machines. To be precise, a personal program is an application that has been installed on your personal machine, but may not be installed on another machine. The list should contain the following items: application name, media type (downloaded, CD, etc.), purpose. Reason -- I am going to upgrade the server to be a personal application server. If you do not submit any names, you will not have any personal applications! 2) Please submit a suggested list of applications that every lab computer should have available, (i.e.) apps like Developer studio -- But I need to know which versions you want. 3) Please let me know if you want the Windows 2000 rc2 release on your computer. This version is the latest version made available to our lab. Regards, Jason C. Grosse Information Security Lab Oregon State University
